About Me
Maya Golos is a multi-media artist who concentrates on traditional illustration and photography, but who also uses various mediums to bring her art to life, including watercolor, filmmaking, colored pencil, ink, acrylic paint, markers, digital illustration, collage, graphite, sculpture, image manipulation, and woodburning. Golos often uses different mediums on the same project or series to add depth to her practice. She also loves to experiment with color, tone, and composition, often defying the conventional standards for the creation of art and testing the limits of her chosen surfaces and mediums. What inspires her art the most is how she sees and interprets the world around her; She is especially inspired by nature, her passion for studying history, and her lived experiences.
Golos is drawn to photographing and depicting the natural world, especially the ocean or bodies of water, people, emotional states, landscapes, and scenes from her imagination. Creating artwork allows Golos to capture the beauty in the mundane and discover meaning through creation. She always searches for subjects that seem plain on the surface but have a much deeper meaning underneath, especially in her photography. Through her practice, Golos wants to make the world a better place using her unique artistic vision. She wishes to express her ideas in a way that people can relate to so that they can feel seen through her art. In fact, having others see themselves in her work is what brings her the greatest joy as an artist.
